ABOUT THIS MAP
Delaware Land Use Bench shows how every acre of Delaware has been used, mapped by the State from aerial photos in 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2022, plus 1-meter land cover for 2013 and 2018. Swipe or fade between years, switch to Change view to see only what changed, click any spot to see its use in each year, and draw a box to measure acres of farmland, forest, wetlands and development — and exactly what turned into what.

Is Delaware Land Use Bench free?
Yes. It is free with no account or sign-up, and works in any modern browser on desktop or phone.
Which years of Delaware land use are available?
State land use / land cover maps for 2007 (original and the 2012 revision), 2012, 2017 and 2022, plus 1-meter land cover for 2013 and 2018 and the State's official 2013→2018 change map.
How do I see what changed near me?
Search your address, pick the two years as A and B, and press Change (or key 4). Only land that changed use stays colored — by what it became. Draw a box and press Measure for acres.
What is the difference between land use and land cover?
Land use is how land is used (homes, farms, commercial). Land cover is what is physically there (trees, grass, pavement) and is mapped pixel by pixel at 1 meter.
Where does the data come from?
All maps are published by the State of Delaware through FirstMap. Land use follows the Delaware Modified Anderson classification, interpreted from State aerial photography.
Can I download the maps?
Yes. Draw an area and download any year as PNG, JPEG, GeoTIFF or raw class codes, with world files and a legend, or export the land use polygons as GeoJSON, CSV or KML.
